Exciting new releases from 1 September 2005
September marks an exciting month for the team at Seppelt. The highly anticipated release of 2003 vintage of Seppelt St. Peters draws near with the wine already receiving rave reviews by the media.
Available in limited quantities, this is what some of Australia’s leading wine commentators have had to say about the latest release:
| Campbell Mattinson
– Winefront Monthly Feb 2005 – “The quality just
keeps coming – in time I may even like this more than the
2002. Incredibly bright fruit. Lush texture and aromatics.
Cedary oak, but balanced with bursts of black pepper and
spice crushing through the mulberried, earthen, layered
fruit. Outstanding. To be released in September 2005. Drink
2005- 2020. 95 points. |
| James Halliday – The Weekend Australian, Saturday 11th June 2005
- The 2003 St Peters has an exceptionally fragrant bouquet
with hints of cedar and sandalwood, the fruit flavours
ranging through blackberry and mulberry, the tannins
superfine (O’Connor calls them powdery or talcy), the oak
judged to perfection. |
Sitting alongside St. Peters, released for the first time, is the 2003 Seppelt Benno Bendigo Shiraz. Named in honour of the legendary Oscar Benno Seppelt, this wine is sourced from the Bendigo region and displays rich cherry fruit overtones with soft lingering tannins on the palate. RRP $60 it is drinking beautifully not but will easily last for 10-15 years if cellared correctly. Drink with game or roast lamb.
For lovers of white wine, this is looking to be the best vintage of Drumborg Riesling ever produced. Sourced from the most Southern Vineyard in mainland Australia the 2005 vintage has delicate fruit flavours. Huon Hooke writing for the
Sydney Morning Herald (17 May 2005) believes that Drumborg is one of the most “ageworthy Rieslings in the country.” Like all the Seppelt super premium wines, this one is made in limited quantities so get in quickly to avoid disappointment.
Sauvignon Blanc is sure to be the hottest grape variety over Summer and to tantalise your tastebuds we are proud to release the first vintage of the Seppelt Victorian Sauvignon Blanc. Priced at $18.99 with crisp citrus fruit undertones, this is a perfect accompaniment to seafood BBQs, Asian dishes or chicken salads as the weather gets warmer.
