A Word From Emma Wood
2007 has been a very busy year with the new Seppelt Silverband wines going from strength to strength, our Vineyard and Victorian ranges delivering great wines and our Jaluka Chardonnay winning at the 2007 Victorian Wine Show.
The Silverband wines are a true expression of Victorian regionality and we are very excited to have these wines in the Seppelt wines portfolio as they are a wonderful way to experience top quality Grampians Shiraz for a great price.
We released our Vineyard Range wines on 1 September with the 2005 St Peters Shiraz, 2005 Benno Shiraz, 2005 Mount Ida Shiraz as well as the 2007 Drumborg Riesling. The volumes for this year's Vineyard Range are quite limited, especially the 2007 Drumborg Riesling; only 100 dozen were bottled.
2005 was a classic year for reds from the Grampians, Bendigo and Heathcote vineyards which led to excellent small parcels of quality, distinctly regional wines. The small volume of the 2007 Drumborg Riesling was a result of the devastating frosts in the vineyard, but the wine is superb; huge floral Riesling fruit lift with the definitive Drumborg acid structure.
Finally, we are very pleased with the results from the recent 2007 Victorian Wines Show, with the 2005 Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay winning Top Gold (Class 21, Exhibit 15) and two trophies: the Lallemand Australia P/L Trophy for Best Wood Matured White Table White; and the Air Liquide Australia Ltd Trophy for the Best White Table Wine.
We are very busy at the winery at the moment blending the 2006 Seppelt red wines. 2006 is shaping up to be a very exciting vintage with the wines all showing great concentration. Watch this space!
