Seppelt Victorian Range
Seppelt's Victorian range continues to be a stalwart within the Seppelt stable with release of the 2005 Victorian Cabernet Sauvignon and 2005 Victorian Shiraz. Primarily sourced from Central and Western Victoria with components from other premium Victorian regions, the range represents a contemporary interpretation of classic wine styles with ripe, expressive flavours and fine tannins balanced by the essential elegance of Victorian wines.
For the 2005 Seppelt Victorian Shiraz, Seppelt Winemakers chose parcels of fruit from the Grampians, Pyrenees and Bendigo which were matured for 18 months in predominantly seasoned French oak barrels. The resulting wine bursts with cherry and redcurrant aromas which gain complexity from an emerging, perfumed, cedar and oak character. The finish is long and generous, complimented by soft, supple tannins. As with previous vintages of the Seppelt Victorian Shiraz, the wine is juicy and seductive now, but will continue to develop great complexity with careful cellaring.
The 2005 Seppelt Victorian Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the Grampians and shows the classic briar fruit and dark berry characters associated with the region. The wine was matured for 20 months in seasoned French oak giving both the nose and palate a lovely mocha like complexity. A medium to full-bodied wine, the 2005 Seppelt Victorian Cabernet Sauvignon has generous sweet fruit and blackcurrant flavours with spicy oak characters and powdery tannins supporting a long finish.
